Die in der Besetzung außergewöhnliche Musikerformation überzeugt mit einem experimentell packenden Klang. Mit Cello, Schlagwerk/Stimme und Klavier erzeugt das Ensemble eine Metaebene des Sehens und Hörens. Dabei agiert das Trio völlig frei im musikalischen Schaffensprozess – die Improvisation ist der Motor der Künstlergruppe. Aus Bildern, Poesie und Musik entsteht ein homogenes Gesamtkunstwerk. Hinter dem Ansatz, den Stummfilm musikalisch in die heutige Zeit zu transmittieren, stehen Hui Chun Lin (Violoncello), Sabine Zimmer (Klavier) und Klaus Roth (Vocals, Percussion). Im Dialog mit den bewegten Bildern auf der Leinwand kreiert TRANSFORMER choralartige minimalistische Klavierpattern, progressive Cello Kaskaden zu spannungsreicher vokaler Percussion. Auf dem freien Feld der Improvisation treffen atonale Klangbilder auf harmonische Sequenzen, wobei die Musiker universell experimentierend über die Schnittstellen und Genregrenzen zeitgenössischer Musik balancieren. Damit erfüllt das Trio seinen zentralen Anspruch, frei von jedem musikalischen Reaktionismus Hörgewohnheiten zu erweitern und die akustische Wahrnehmung immer weiter zu schärfen.
The cast TRANSFORMER is an unusual formation of musicians with an experimental gripping sound. The ensemble consisting of cello, percussion/vocal and piano creates a meta-level of seeing and hearing. During the musical creation process the trio acts completely free – improvisation is the driving force of the artists group. Pictures, poetry and music result in a homogeneous synthesis of the arts. Hui Chun Lin (cello), Sabine Zimmer (piano) and Klaus Roth (percussion/vocal) are behind the concept of transmitting silent film music to the present time and the core of the group. While accompanying the movie TRANSFORMER creates chorale-like minimalist piano patterns, progressive cello cascades and vocal percussion full of suspense. The aim of the music is to extend and sharpen the listening habits, without copying traditional silent film music. In the field of free improvisation atonal sounds meet harmonic sequences. The musicians perform in a universal experimental manner touching areas of contemporary music.
